Sports turf managers will tell you that synthetic turf fields have their own unique set of challenges. Synthetic turf fields are very sensitive to compaction due to intensive usage and contamination. Compaction of the fiber/infill system will lead to compacted fields and the damping effect of the system will be lost. An additional disadvantage is that the grip of the sport shoes will be reduced and could result in injury.
Often, compacted fields are maintained with a brush or tines. However, this is just a quick fix because decompaction only occurs in a few millimeters of the upper layer. The GKB Brush provides maximum coverage through both the top and the bottom of the fiber.
